Learn more about what Veeam B&R data points are collected and reported on in Bocada Cloud
Configure a Standard Report to See Additional Data
Bocada Cloud provides users with many different methods to configure a standard report to view the data in any way they want to see it. This includes the ability to add or remove data columns in a grid-based report.
By default, a sub-set of data is displayed in standard reports but there is more than can be added by adding data columns.
Learn how to Add or Remove data columns in a report
Note: once you configure a standard report, click the three-dot menu in the top right of the report grid to "Save as a New Report" so you can retain your changes. Give the new custom report a name, and then it will display in your Report Library.
Veeam Backup & Replication-Specific Data Points
Bocada Cloud's connector to Veeam Backup & Replication is a direct database connection which allows a greater number of data points to be collected, monitored and reported.
1 - Warnings
The Veeam application includes warnings, such as "backup storage almost full," which are helpful for users to know when to take action to prevent future backup failures even if current backup jobs are successful. These warnings are available in the Job Activity report (in both the standard version of that report, and any custom version you've configured and saved under a new name). Learn more.
Tip - Create a Warnings Report: in the Job Activity report, add the "Warnings" column (which shows Yes/No if there was a warning on the backup job) and the "Last Warning Message" (which shows the warning message text). Then, save as a new report called "Veeam Warnings" and add it to your Report Library. You can check this report regularly, or have it automatically distributed to you via email on a scheduled basis.
2 - Immutable and/or Encrypted Data
Bocada Cloud collects whether a backup job was encrypted and/or immutable from the Veeam Backup & Replication application. This data is available by adding the "Encrypted" and "Immutable" columns to the Job Activity report.
3 - Size of Protected Resources
In the Job Activity report, users can add the "Resource Size" column to view the byte size of the protected (backed up) resource. This is in addition to the existing "Byte Count" column which shows the size of the backup data transferred to the backup destination repository.
4 - Configuration Backup Jobs
The Veeam Backup & Replication application backs up the configuration settings made by its users so that if a configuration was changed or corrupted in some way, the user could revert to the configuration backup. Bocada Cloud collects, monitors and reports on these backed up configuration jobs in many standard reports, such as Job Activity and Backup Failure. These jobs can be seen by adding the "Backup Group" data column and they will display as "Backup Configuration Job." These jobs may also be seen in the "Backup Type" and "Proprietary Backup Level" data columns depending on the set up of the Veeam Backup & Replication system.
5 - Veeam Server Retention Jobs
Veeam Backup & Replication runs retention jobs that are not backup jobs, but jobs the Veeam server application runs itself to retain some of its own data.
Prior to June 2025, these jobs were displaying in Bocada Cloud reports incorrectly as resources with the IP address of the server (e.g. 127.0.0.1). This caused confusion and "noise" in backup reporting. As of the June 2, 2025 release, these jobs are no longer collected by default and do not display in reports or email notifications.
However, users can choose to collect these jobs if they prefer. When adding or editing a connection to Veeam B&R, users can expand the "Advanced" section and check a box to collect these jobs and display them in reports and email notifications associated with the resource name of the machine where the Bocada Cloud Data Collection Agent is installed.
