Bocada Cloud was designed to be flexible and support customers that may have a variety of business structures and hierarchies.
Organization is a general term used to describe a corporation or company, or the sub-parts of a corporation or company such as a department, business unit, subsidiary, acquired entity, partner or customer. It’s used to organize data, reports and users to match a customer’s structure.
Every Bocada Cloud customer has a primary organization which is identified as the Billing Entity which is the company paying for Bocada Cloud. It is the primary or “parent” organization that is related to any other organization created under it (“child”).
An individual who signs up for Bocada Cloud on their own (was not invited/added to Bocada Cloud by another user) will enter a Company name that they work for during registration process. This Company name will become the main Organization/Billing Entity on their Bocada Cloud account.
A user with a Super Administrator role can add additional sub-organizations under that primary organization/Billing Entity. Examples:
Example 1 – An MSP may want to add an organization for every customer to organize each customer's backup data and reporting separately. It could look like this:
- Main organization and Billing Entity = ACME MSP Services
- Sub-organization = Law Firm customer
- Sub-organization = Retail customer
- Sub-organization = Manufacturing customer
Example 2 - A central IT operations team may want to create an organization for each subsidiary, business unit or department under a main corporation or company. It could look like this:
- Main organization and Billing Entity = Global Corp.
- Sub-organization = US business unit
- Sub-organization = European business unit
- Sub-organization = Latin American business unit
