How do I provision a NetWorker API user?

Bocada Cloud data collection requires a user with View Application Settings to connect to the NetWorker REST API.

DELL NetWorker Documentation

To provision this user, please follow the DELL documentation for steps to create a NetWorker REST API user.

The above documentation details the steps to perform what is needed, but omits a permission required by Bocada: View Application Settings.

Steps

From the NetWorker Management Console (NMC)

  1. Create a user, e.g. REST-USR (Setup -> Users and Roles -> Users)
    1. Create a password and set it to Never Expire. You will enter this username and password into Bocada.
  2. Create a group, e.g. REST API (Setup -> Users and Roles -> Groups)
  3. Assign REST-USR user to the REST API group

From the NetWorker Server

  1. Navigate to User Groups
  2. Edit Properties of the Users group
  3. Add REST API Group to the External roles of the Users group
  4. Assign Privilege: View Application Settings
    * This was not included in the DELL documentation:

You are now ready to enter the username and password for the REST-USR created in the first step into the appropriate Bocada Cloud fields.
