Can I customize how often Bocada Cloud collects data from my backup systems?

Learn how to adjust how often a Bocada Cloud connection collects backup data

Customers subscribed to the Pro & Ultimate subscription plans can customize the data collection frequency of the connections to their backup systems. This can be useful for servers/VMs that may run backups less frequently or are only online during certain periods of the day.

By default, data collection runs hourly. However, if backups run only once or twice per day, a user can adjust the data collection frequency to only collect after those backups run to monitor and report on their success or failure. 

Step-by-Step Instructions

After a connection to a backup system has been created and is successfully running data collections, it displays on your Connections List (accessible from the left navigation menu, under Connections > List). 

1 - Edit a connection's data collection frequency by clicking the pencil icon on the far right of the connection in the list

2 - If the connection is to a SaaS/Cloud-based backup system, you will see the following on the right of the screen:

By default, all hours of the day are selected, meaning that data collection runs hourly. You can change that to only run during certain hours. Note: all hours are displayed in UTC which is how the data is displayed in Bocada Cloud's reports and UI. 

3 - If the connection is to an Installed/On-Premise backup system, you will see the following on the right of the screen:

The difference with an on-premise system is that you have already set the time zone for the connection itself which is where the backup system resides. You can see that time zone setting on the left side of the screen (it is usually the last data field of the connection configuration details). Therefore, you have the ability to display the hours in the time zone set for the connection to make it easier to customize. However, the data in Bocada Cloud reports and UI will continue to display in UTC.
