Collect, monitor and report on backup data from Cove Data Protection in a few easy steps
Bocada Cloud's connector for Cove Data Protection enables API-based Cove backup data collections and reporting in Bocada Cloud.
After you have created and registered an account for Bocada Cloud, log in and follow these steps:
- Go to Connections on the left navigation menu and click +Add to create a new connection.
- Select Cove from the list of backup applications.
- Next, you will enter a few required fields from your Cove application to link Bocada Cloud with Cove through a secure API connection. Those include: Username, Password and Customer Name.
- You can connect to a single Tenant within your Cove Data Protection account. The connection is made through a user with administrator access to all Tenant data.
- The Customer Name will specify which Tenant you want to report on in Bocada Cloud. If you have multiple Tenants, you will need to create a separate connection for each.
- You will also enter a Connection Name that will be displayed in Bocada Cloud reports as the name for this Cove Data Protection instance. You can name it whatever you like; however, we recommend it includes a reference to the Cove instance and Tenant.
- Note: Connection Name is internal to Bocada Cloud to help you understand the collected backup data in the UI and not a value required for the Cove API connection.
- If you have set up one or more organizations within your Bocada Cloud account to segment backup data, you are also required to select which Organization the connection is associated with for reporting purposes. Learn more about Organizations in Bocada Cloud.
- After you have entered the required data fields, click the Connect button. This will initiate the connection between Bocada Cloud and your Cove Data Protection account. If the information you have entered is correct, you'll be asked how many previous days of backup data you want to collect in the initial data collection.
- Once data collection is complete, you will see backup data results in the Bocada Cloud Dashboard and Reports. Data collection will automatically run every hour and pull the latest Cove backup results into Bocada Cloud.
- If there is a problem with the connection between Bocada Cloud and Cove, you will see an error message. Click the Previous button to view and edit the data you entered. A few common errors include:
- An incorrectly entered username and/or password.
- The user (whose username and password was entered) does not have administrator access to Tenant data.
- An incorrectly entered Customer Name.
