How do I connect to backup data in Azure?

Learn more about how to connect Bocada Cloud to resources backed up in Microsoft Azure

1. Log into Bocada Cloud

  • On the left navigation menu, click Connections, then +Add.
  • Click the Microsoft Azure Cloud tile.

2. Register a Read-only App Client

Bocada Cloud can connect to one or more subscriptions within an Azure tenant using a read-only App Client (Client ID and Client secret).

See Azure documentation for more information on how to register an App Client. Steps include:

  1. Register application
  2. Add a client secret
  3. Assign a Reader Role to your application for the Azure Subscription you want to monitor.

When completed the role assignment should look like this:

3. Configure the Connection

In Bocada Cloud, select whether you want to collect from a single subscription, or from multiple subscriptions, and enter the associated details such as: Subscription ID and/or Tenant ID; and then the Client ID and Client Secret as described above.

4. Test Connection

Click the Next button to test the connection between Bocada Cloud and Azure.

If the connection is successful, you will be asked to select how many days in the past (up to the past 8 days) of backup data you want to collect to initially populate reports and your Dashboard. Then, your connector will run data collections every hour after that point.

If the connection is unsuccessful, you will be able to click the “Previous” button to edit your connection details and try again.

If you have issues connecting to Azure after trying these steps, create a Support Ticket in Bocada Cloud, or contact us.
